Eric Pezet
Senior International Capital Markets and IT Consultant
Eric Pezet is a Senior Capital Markets and IT consultant with over 30 years professional experience
advising financial institutions on capital markets modernization. Mr. Pezet’s double expertise in finance
and Information Technology, combined with his capacities as a facilitator have resulted in the successful
implementation of multiple transformational projects.
Mr. Pezet started his career as a software engineer, developing software applications for the French
stock market stakeholders, mainly brokerage houses and asset managers. At the time, the French capital
market was undertaking an important transformation plan with the emergence of electronic trading,
back office processes standardization and implementation of risk management standards. During this
period, Mr. Pezet designed treasury and risk management tools, as well as portfolio management
algorithms, enabling both brokerage houses and asset managers to take part in the digital revolution.
Following the foundation of Euronext (now the pan European exchange covering Amsterdam, Brussels,
Dublin, Lisbon, Oslo and Paris markets), Mr. Pezet joined the newly created group and focused on
deploying the Paris software platforms such as the Euronext electronic central trading engine and the
Central Counterparty (CCP) clearing platform to other markets outside of the Euronext group.
Mr. Pezet worked with multiple stock exchanges based in Asia, Latin and North America, Middle East
and Africa. In particular, Mr. Pezet organized and led a European-funded project to implement a new
software suite for the Jordan Securities Commission, the Amman Stock Exchange and the Securities
Depository Centre. This included a trading system, market supervision and short selling control
interface.
He also took part as a clearing expert in various consultancy assignments such as a project led by
Euroclear (European CSD for Belgium, Finland, France, Ireland, Netherland, Sweden and United
Kingdom) to implement international standards at the China Securities Depository and Clearing
Corporation (PRC CSD and Clearinghouse). He participated in a project led by Euronext to modernize the
Tokyo Stock Exchange IT post trade infrastructure.
Since 2010, Mr. Pezet has worked as a senior capital market and IT consultant and provided advisory
and consultancy services in Middle-East, Africa, Eastern Europe and Western Asia, in areas such as:
- Proposing a set of reforms aimed at improving the overall efficiency and developing the activity of stock exchanges, including the implementation of the local Capital Market Authority
- Modernizing the capital markets institutions (stock-exchanges, clearing houses, securities settlement systems - SSS, CSDs) including an upgrade of the whole IT system to allow the institutions to reach international standards
- Assessing the infrastructure and organization of capital markets institutions and providing recommendations
- Providing training to the teams as part of the IT systems implementation plan and market development plan
- Developing a corporate strategy and business plan for the Financial Markets Infrastructures
- Implementing interbank Foreign Exchange markets in developping countries, addressing IT, organizational and regulatory issues
Mr. Pezet has coordinated teams of experts including experts from Autorité des Marchés Financiers
(French Capital Market Authority) and Euronext, as well as BME (Bolsas y Mercados Españoles – Spanish
Exchanges and Markets) and Afi (Analistas financieros internacionales – Independent consulting and
training in economics, finance and technology). These projects led to successful implementations of
Euronext and BME IT platforms.
